India is among the top 12 destinations for biotechnology worldwide. The Indian bioeconomy has grown from USD 62.5 billion in 2019 to USD 70.2 billion in 2020 at a growth rate of 12.3%. The Indian biotechnology industry is expected to reach USD 150 billion by 2025, with a CAGR (Compound Annual Growth Rate) of 16.4%.

The biotechnology industry in India comprises >2700 biotech startups and is estimated to reach 10,000 by 2024 which aims to provide high quality drugs, better diagnosis & MedTec products available at reasonable price.

Recently, India hosted the Biotech Startup expo 2022 which showcased around 300 biotech startups from various disciplines like biopharma, genomics, agriculture, and industrial biotech.
