Scispot vs. Spreadsheets

Scispot vs. Spreadsheets

The current software in the life science data management market is outdated and very rigid. Many scientists worldwide use tools that slow innovation and create data silos, such as inadequate spreadsheets and old-fashioned notebooks.

Using the wrong tools for your research can slow down your research. For example, scientists had to rename human genes to stop Excel from reading them as dates. A study from 2016 discovered that almost 20% of the published papers about genetic data contain errors due to Excel misinterpreting data. Excel would automatically rename genes with names as SEPT9 and DEC1 to 9-Sept and 1-Dec. Additionally, it is impossible to connect data stored in different spreadsheets as they are not relational databases, unlike Scispot’s Labsheets.

Our relational database makes connecting lab data a breeze. You can easily set up parent and child relationships with your sample Labsheets. Track and locate your samples in real-time using our visual plates and box manifest for different storage units. Collaborate with research partners or customers by setting up customizable views and permissions.

The life science community needs a truly modern solution with a spreadsheet interface that can solve lab data management pain points while being secure and compliant with all regulatory requirements. Scispot offers this solution in the cloud. Our mission is to reduce the time you spend managing your spreadsheets, eliminate data silos, and allow you to focus on what makes research fun and exciting.

Traditional spreadsheets have limited functionality and integration for protocols. Scispot is the solution to all your scientific spreadsheet needs. Book a demo with a Scispot team member to learn how we can help you go beyond spreadsheets and make your biotech scaleable.

What’s a Rich Text element?

The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.

Static and dynamic content editing

A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!

How to customize formatting for each rich text

Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.
